Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- Monitor the performance of the 5G network, including Radio Access Network (RAN), core network, and backhaul, using network management tools, and real-time monitoring to detect performance anomalies or degradation.
- Identify and diagnose network faults, including hardware, software, and connectivity issues, to take corrective action in line with organisational policies.
- Apply performance optimisation techniques, including network tuning, to improve throughput, reduce latency, and enhance overall service quality.
- Carry out routine and predictive maintenance tasks, including hardware/software upgrades, configuration changes, and patch management, to maintain ongoing network reliability and security.
- Perform regular testing, validation, and compliance checks on network equipment and software to maintain adherence to organisational performance standards, service level agreements (SLAs), and regulatory requirements.
- Manage network resources, including bandwidth allocation, traffic prioritisation, and adaptive load balancing, to maintain optimal performance.
- Implement and monitor security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and encryption protocols, to protect the 5G network from cyber threats, unauthorised access, and data breaches.
- Implement self-healing network capabilities and automated alerts to enable proactive fault detection, predictive maintenance, and rapid service restoration in the event of network failures or outages.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to network users and stakeholders, diagnosing and resolving connectivity and performance issues in line with organisational standards.
- Maintain compliance with organisational, legal, and regulatory requirements related to 5G network operation, security, and maintenance, adhering to data protection laws, industry and regulatory standards.
