Overview

This standard is about developing and implementing a freight management system to confirm compliance with freight transport operator’s licence requirements. It involves carrying out a review of the organisation's current management systems to identify areas for development. It also includes confirming that the freight management system complies with operator licence requirements. You will be responsible for working with colleagues to make sure that they understand and use the systems, including compliance with the requirements of the licence.

This standard is for the Operator, who is the named licence holder, and the internal or external Transport Manager, who is held responsible for the operator's licence compliance.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

P1    undertake an audit of internal management systems to identify and manage risks to operator’s licence compliance

P2    evaluate the internal audit outcome against the requirements for freight transport operator’s licence compliance

P3    define and develop an internal freight management system to confirm compliance with freight transport operator’s licence requirements

P4    develop an implementation plan for the freight management system

P5    confirm that the freight management system and implementation plans have been agreed by all colleagues involved

P6    communicate the freight management system and implementation plans to relevant colleagues in freight transport operations

P7    communicate the importance of the freight management system and relevant regulatory responsibilities to relevant colleagues 

P8    train relevant colleagues in the use of the freight management system

P9    confirm that the freight management system has been implemented by colleagues involved

P10    work with relevant colleagues to obtain feedback on the effectiveness of the freight management system and implement agreed changes
