Overview
This standard is about delivering products to the customer's premises or other place of delivery. It includes planning delivery schedules that make the best use of time and other resources. Giving good customer service during the delivery will encourage repeat business.
This standard is for suitability insured staff who deliver products to customers’ premises.
When you have completed this standard you will be able to demonstrate your understanding of and ability to:
- Deliver products to customers' premises making the best use of time and resources
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- check that all the products due for delivery are available and ready following your workplace procedures
- follow your workplace procedures to check that all equipment and documentation required for the delivery is ready
- check that all the delivery details and the correct delivery addresses are present following your workplace procedures
- follow your workplace procedures to plan a schedule of deliveries that makes the best use of time and other resources
- follow your workplace procedures and relevant legislation to check the vehicle and insurance arrangements are current and correct
- check that there is enough fuel for the delivery schedule and follow your workplace procedures for getting more fuel if required
- transport products and equipment safely and securely following your workplace procedures and relevant legislation
- deliver products at the times agreed with customers
- take action in line with your workplace procedures if the expected arrival time at customers' premises is early or late
- follow your workplace procedures and comply with relevant legislation for ensuring that deliveries are left only with individuals who are permitted to receive them
- take action in line with your workplace procedures if no one is available who can receive the delivery or if customers reject a delivery ensuring all relevant legislation requirements are followed
- follow your workplace procedures and relevant legislation to unload deliveries safely and in ways that protect the products from damage
- treat customers courteously throughout the delivery process following your workplace procedures
- update records of delivery and non-delivery promptly and in line with your workplace procedures and relevant legislation
