Achievement of this standard demonstrates your competence in managing effective safety, health, and wellbeing in a mineral processing operation.
 
Who is this standard for?
This standard is applicable to anyone at a supervisory or managerial level approved to carry out this function working in the mineral processing sector.

Your responsibilities will require you to comply with company policy and procedures for the activities undertaken, and to report any problems that you cannot solve, or that are outside your responsibility, to the relevant authority. You will be expected to take full responsibility for your own actions within the activity, and for the quality and accuracy
of the work that you carry out.

Applying and advising on safe working practices will be a key issue throughout. Training is a key aspect to managing health, safety and wellbeing, therefore, this standard works in collaboration with developing capability in mineral processing operations.



Performance criteria

You must be able to:

P1. conduct your work in line with relevant regulation, legislation, company policies, procedures, and industry good practice
P2. ensure that all individuals conducting the work are suitably protected
P3. contribute to a positive health and safety culture
P4. demonstrate leadership through positive health & safety behaviour
P5. ensure individuals undertaking the work are competent to conduct their duties
P6. ensure all site hazards and risks have been assessed
P7. develop and review standard operating procedures
P8. ensure the risk assessment and safe systems of work are implemented
P9. implement the health & safety management system
P10. manage effective health and safety systems
P11. evaluate information provided by contractors to carry out work on site
P12. ensure that inspections are carried out in compliance to the scheme of inspections
P13. create action plans to resolve defects, improvements and changes
P14. ensure all isolation procedures are carried out
P15. evaluate the site health, safety, and wellbeing performance identifying areas for improvements
P16. evaluate findings from audits and inspections
P17. analyse health, safety and wellbeing data and identify trends
P18. review & distribute information to relevant parties on health, safety and wellbeing
P19. collaboratively create risk assessment for activities involving significant risks
P20. evaluate the effectiveness of the health & safety management system
P21. maintain accurate records in line with company policies and procedures
P22. evaluate changes against prior performance
