Overview
This standard describes how to control the deployment of fencing materials and components.
This standard covers:
- identifying the requirements for materials and components
- confirming that the requests are accurate
- controlling storage dealing with surplus.
This standard is designed for fencing installation supervisors. It can be applied to support any fence installation operation.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- complete a site-specific risk assessment to identify hazards
- confirm that environmental and health and safety policies and procedures and risk assessment requirements are put into practice in the deployment of fencing materials and components
- identify the requirements for fencing materials and components, including their quality and the quantity needed to meet the relevant legal and specification requirements
- check that requests for fencing materials and components are complete and conform to the requirements of the programme
- order the required materials and components
- take delivery of fencing materials and components
- manage the storage of fencing materials and components
- deal with surplus materials or components, according to company requirements
- control the deployment of fencing materials and components
- maintain records of materials and components and evidence of deliveries, in accordance with company requirements
Knowledge and Understanding

- how to carry out a risk assessment and why this is important
- how to communicate environmental and health and safety policies and procedures and risk assessment requirements to the relevant personnel, and confirm that they understand their responsibilities

- why deliveries should match programme requirements
