This standard covers managing and monitoring change. All businesses need to go through change at times and it is important that change is managed in the right way.
This standard is suitable for anyone with responsibility for managing and monitoring change.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

P1 communicate plans for change clearly and logically
P2 ensure communication includes the purpose for the change and how it will affect the business, individuals and teams
P3 encourage people to contribute to the plans for change
P4 adapt and negotiate changes to plans where necessary, while still focusing on the vision and the goals for change
P5 manage change, providing information, support and motivation to those affected
P6 identify and solve problems during the change process
P7 monitor and evaluate the change process
P8 provide feedback to those involved in the change


Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

K1 the purpose, benefits and risks of change to businesses, individuals and teams
K2 the purpose of having a vision and goals for change and a plan for implementation
K3 the importance of keeping people informed and involved in the change and encouraging them to contribute to the change process
K4 how to manage the impact of change to achieve positive outcomes
K5 the implications of change on business processes and infrastructure
K6 the impact of change on teams and individuals, and the implications of this on roles and responsibilities
K7 when training, mentoring or coaching would assist the change process
K8 how people react to change and the stages of reaction
K9 the purpose and benefits of being adaptable during the change process and of being ready to renegotiate plans
K10 the types of problems that may arise during a change process and how to respond to these
K11 the importance of allowing time for change to settle
K12 the purpose and benefits of monitoring and evaluating the change process and how to make use of the outcomes of evaluation
K13 the purpose and benefits of providing feedback to those who have been involved in the change
