Overview

This standard is about implementing and evaluating an HR strategy. It covers identifying people-centric Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), any possible obstacles for strategy implementation, planning and obtaining resources for it. It also includes gaining the commitment from employees and other stakeholders and evaluating the strategy against agreed performance goals and success criteria.

This standard is for HR professionals who are involved in the implementation and evaluation of HR strategy.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. define organisational people-centric KPIs and drivers for measuring success
  2. identify any possible obstacles to implementation of an HR strategy
  3. assess the risks and elaborate methods of their mitigation
  4. develop a plan for implementation of HR strategy
  5. identify the key stakeholders in the implementation process and gain their commitment
  6. delegate activities to appropriate employees across different departments
  7. identify the timescales and success criteria against which the strategy will be evaluated
  8. monitor continued compliance with legal requirements, codes of practice and organisation procedures
  9. collect valid and comprehensive data, including feedback from stakeholders
  10. evaluate the strategy against the agreed measures and success criteria
  11. carry out continuous monitoring of HR strategy by collating feedback and recommendations for improvement or maintenance

You need to know and understand:

  1. your organisational strategies, values, goals and objectives
  2. your organisation’s people-centric KPIs
  3. the sectors in which your organisation operates and the market factors impacting on its performance
  4. the sources of specialist information and expertise and how to access it
  5. the possible obstacles to HR strategy implementation and methods of resolving them
  6. the principles of risk assessment and mitigation
  7. how human resource levers drive organisational performance
  8. how to develop a plan for strategy implementation
  9. the resources for supporting the delivery of the HR strategy
  10. the internal and external stakeholders for implementation of the HR strategy
  11. your organisation’s communication strategy
  12. how to steer and influence implementation of the HR strategy with internal and external stakeholders
  13. how to select and apply appropriate data collection and analysis techniques
  14. how to evaluate quantitative and qualitative information against the agreed success criteria
  15. how to summarise and present data to influence the evaluation of the strategy
  16. how to make recommendations to modify or maintain the strategy
  17. the principles of agility, continuous improvement and business partnering needs
  18. the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) practices
  19. the relevant data protection regulation
