Carry out motor vehicle body adhesive bonding operations

This unit is about joining materials safely, correctly and effectively using adhesive bonding processes.

---

1. use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when carrying out adhesive processes
2. protect the vehicle and its contents effectively when carrying out adhesive processes
3. prepare material and align to enable suitable join to be achieved; adjoining edges must be treated before joining
4. select and use the correct tools and equipment for carrying out adhesive processes
5. ensure that the tools, equipment and PPE you require are in a safe working condition
6. set up your equipment to carry out adhesive processes
7. carry out adhesive processes following:
   1. recognised researched repair methods
   2. your workplace procedures
   3. health, safety and legal requirements
8. avoid damaging other components, units and panels on the vehicle
9. recognise when your join is not forming correctly and what action needs to be taken
10. visually check integrity of the join
11. dress and protect the repaired area to inhibit corrosion where applicable
12. clean and store PPE and equipment in appropriate manner
13. promptly report any additional faults you notice during the course of your work to the relevant person(s)  
14. promptly report any delays in completing your work to the relevant person(s)  
15. carry out adhesive processes within the agreed timescale
16. complete work records accurately, in the format required and promptly pass them to the relevant person(s)
