Overview

This standard identifies the requirements when leading provision of services for babies and young children in partnership with families. This includes providing information on services and resources and supporting families to access the services. It also includes developing provision and encouraging best practice in work with babies and young children.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. encourage families to share their needs and preferences regarding services for babies or young children
  2. assess the service to ensure it meets the needs of babies or young children and families  
  3. help families access information, support and resources 
  4. discuss costs with families, including any funding support 
  5. provide detailed and accessible information to families about available services 
  6. plan to develop the provision of services 
  7. identify, sources and organise resources for providing services
  8. source funding externally to support services 
  9. work with families to improve services by identifying their preferences, needs and available resources 
  10. lead service improvement planning in partnership with families
  11. work in partnership with families and others to support babies or young children as they transition to new environments 
  12. ensure the workplace follows best practices when working with babies or young children 
  13. provide safe environments that promote the wellbeing and development of babies or young children
  14. ensure reflective and responsive practice that promotes the wellbeing and development of babies or young children
  15. identify and use curriculum or development frameworks that support best practice when working with babies or young children 
  16. collaborate with others to identify their learning needs and development opportunities to support babies or young children 
  17. support others to access learning and development opportunities
  18. utilise resources to implement and share information on best practices
  19. complete records and reports required for leading provision for babies or young children in partnership with families 
  20. reflect on how you carried out your roles and responsibilities when leading provision for babies or young children in partnership with families

  6. how to lead on dignity, kindness, and compassion when promoting the development of babies and young children
  7. the influence of neurodivergence and additional needs on the provision for babies and young children
  8. how to manage and organise environments for babies and young children that facilitate secure attachments and support emotional regulation, wellbeing and resilience 
  9. the contribution play makes to the holistic development of babies and young children 
  10. how to use a quality improvement approach to support continuous improvement and maintain quality standards for learning and development 
  11. how to ensure information about service provision is accessible to everyone
  12. support available for babies and young children and their families
  13. how to lead on the application of trauma informed principles during partnership working with families
  14. methods of supporting others to work with and support babies and young children
  15. how to lead systems, procedures, and practices that support the provision for babies and young children in partnership with families
  16. principles of risk assessment, risk management and positive risk taking
  17. how to work in partnership with others to lead provision for babies and young children
  18. how to use digital tools and devices to lead provision for babies and young children in partnership with families
  19. the records and reports required for leading provision for babies and young children in partnership with families
  20. theories relevant to leading provision for babies and young children in partnership with families
