Overview

This standard identifies the requirements when collaborating with others to support individuals. This includes promoting the contribution of others to supporting individuals, working with them to achieve outcomes and empowering them to review the effectiveness of the support they provide


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. identify and agree the role and responsibilities of yourself, others and individuals in collaborative working
  2. work in partnership with individuals and others to agree aspects of care or support collaborative working will involve 
  3. lead on the provision of information to support others to meet the preferences and needs of individuals 
  4. empower others to access resources, support and develop skills required to contribute to the outcomes of individuals 
  5. work in partnership with individuals and others to identify and address any questions, concerns or risks in collaborative working  
  6. promote the rights of individuals and others to ask questions, make decisions or change their mind 
  7. empower others to participate in agreed care or support for individuals 
  8. provide individuals and others with opportunities to feedback on how collaborative working meets the preferences and needs of individuals
  9. empower individuals and others to review and update outcomes of collaborative working and address any concerns
  10. take responsibility to ensure any changes required to collaborative working are implemented
  11. complete records and reports required for collaborative working with others to support individuals
  12. reflect on how you carried out your role and responsibilities when collaborating with others to support individuals

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. how to identify and agree roles and responsibilities when collaborating with others to support individuals
  2. how to develop a workplace culture of collaborative working 
  3. the importance of empowering others in care and support opportunities 
  4. how to lead on the application of trauma informed principles when collaborating with others to support individuals 
  5. the types of information, resources, support and skills development available and how to provide and use these
  6. how to use digital tools and devices to support collaborative working with others
  7. the influence of neurodivergence and additional needs when collaborating with others to support individuals
  8. the influence of culture, background and spirituality when collaborating with others to support individuals
  9. the importance of agreeing outcomes with individuals and others 
  10. how to support others to meet the outcomes, preferences and needs of individuals
  11. how to lead on dignity, kindness and compassion when working in collaboration with others to support individuals
  12. ways to acknowledge the positive contributions others are making 
  13. aspects of relationships that affect achievement of outcomes 
  14. how to work in collaboration with individuals and others to review and evaluate progress, and why this is important 
  15. how to respond to dilemmas, conflicts and disagreements that may occur when collaborating with others to support individuals
  16. how to support emotional regulation when working in collaboration 
  17. the rights of individuals and others to ask questions, make decisions or change their mind and the importance of supporting this
  18. the records and reports required for collaborating with others to support individuals 
  19. theories relevant to collaborating with others to support individuals 
  20. the relevant legal requirements, standards of practice, frameworks and guidance for collaborating with others to support individuals
  21. the workplace requirements on equality, diversity, inclusion and rights when collaborating with others to support individuals
  22. how your personal experiences and unconscious bias may impact when collaborating with others to support individuals, and how to address this
  23. the role of supervision, reflective practice and learning and development in collaborating with others to support individuals
