Overview

This standard identifies the requirements when you promote awareness of health issues. This includes working with others to identify health issues about which awareness needs to be raised, then working as part of a team to plan, implement and evaluate awareness raising activities.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. identify when awareness of health issues needs to be promoted
  2. establish consent, access and review information on health issues 
  3. identify and agree the roles and responsibilities of yourself and others in promoting awareness of health issues
  4. work in partnership with others to review the interest for promoting the awareness on health issues 
  5. work in partnership with others to identify and agree aims, objectives, target audience and develop a plan for promoting awareness of health issues 
  6. carry out your agreed roles and responsibilities to implement activities to promote awareness on health issues
  7. gather feedback from target audiences on the impact activities had on promoting awareness on health issues 
  8. evaluate with others how promotion activities met aims and objectives 
  9. work in partnership to identify good practice and recommend changes for future activities for promoting awareness of health issues 
  10. complete records and reports required for promoting awareness of health issues 
  11. reflect on how you carried out your roles and responsibilities to promote awareness of health issues

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. how to access and review information that will inform your practice on promoting awareness of health issues
  2. the importance of working in partnership to identify and develop aims, objectives and plans to promote awareness of health issues 
  3. how to apply trauma informed principles when promoting awareness of health issues

  16. how to work in partnership with others when promoting awareness of health issues 
  17. how your personal experiences and unconscious bias may impact when promoting awareness of health issues, and how to address this
  18. the role of supervision, reflective practice and learning and development in promoting awareness of health issues
