Overview

This standard identifies the requirements when supporting individuals to keep their home clean, safe and secure. This includes supporting them to obtain and store household goods and supporting them to keep their home safe and secure.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. identify and agree the roles and responsibilities of yourself and others to support individuals to keep their home clean, safe and secure 
  2. support individuals and others to identify ways in which the cleanliness, safety and security of their home can be met 
  3. work in partnership with individuals and others to identify what individuals can do for themselves and what they require support with 
  4. work in partnership to agree how support will be carried out in line with the preferences and needs of individuals
  5. support individuals to identify and access support and resources they need to keep their home clean, safe and secure 
  6. support individuals to identify, obtain and store household goods 
  7. encourage and support the independence of individuals to maintain the cleanliness of their home 
  8. encourage and support the independence of individuals to maintain the safety and security of their home 
  9. support individuals and others to feedback on how their preferences and needs to keep their home clean, safe and secure were met
  10. contribute to the feedback on how the preferences, needs of individuals and support to keep the home clean, safe and secure was met
  11. work in partnership with all involved to agree any changes to support required to keep their home clean, safe and secure   
  12. contribute to records and reports required to support individuals to keep their home clean, safe and secure 
  13. reflect on how you carried out your roles and responsibilities to support individuals to keep their homes clean, safe and secure, with feedback from others

  5. how to safely store household goods and the potential risks of unsafe storage, use and disposal on individuals and the environment 
  6. the importance of cleanliness in individuals home environment
  7. types of digital tools and digital devices that can support individuals to keep their homes clean, safe and secure
  8. the potential risks with home security 
  9. how to encourage and support the independence of individuals to keep their home clean, safe and secure 
  10. the importance of dignity, kindness and compassion when supporting individuals to keep their home clean, safe and secure 
  11. how to support emotional regulation when keeping homes clean, safe and secure 
  12. types of additional resources and support that may assist individuals to keep their home clean, safe and secure   
  13. how to work in partnership with individuals and others to review and feedback on the support to keep their home clean, safe and secure 
  14. how changes to individual preferences, conditions and circumstances can impact the support required to keep their home clean, safe and secure
  15. how to apply trauma informed principles to support individuals to keep their home clean, safe and secure
