Overview

"This standard is about preparing, erecting and dismantling temporary roof scaffolds incorporating towers, independent scaffolds and beams, interpreting information, adopting safe, healthy and environmentally responsible work practices, selecting and using materials, components, tools and equipment
This standard is for people working in the occupational areas of Scaffolding, Staging and Rigging and can be used by operatives, supervisors and managers"

You must be able to:

Performance Criteria 1 1 interpret plans, drawings and sketches, method statements, risk assessments, specifications, schedules and manufacturers' information related to the work to be carried out Performance Criteria 2 2 avoid risk by following the given information relating to the following: 2.1 safe use of health and safety control equipment 2.2 safe use of access equipment and fall arrest equipment to carry out the activity 2.3 safe use, storage and handling of materials, tools and equipment 2.4 specific risks to health Performance Criteria 3 3 select resources associated with own work: 3.1 materials, components, fixings, anchors and ties 3.2 tools and equipment 3.3 lifting accessories 3.4 access equipment Performance Criteria 4 4 protect the work and its surrounding area from damage 5 maintain a clear and tidy workspace 6 dispose of waste in accordance with current legislation Performance Criteria 5 7 demonstrate work skills to measure, set out, assemble, fix, position, secure and remove 8 use and maintain hand tools, ancillary equipment, lifting accessories and access equipment 9 erect and dismantle tube and fitting or systems scaffold to given working instructions to form the following: 9.1 mobile temporary roofs 9.2 prefabricated roof scaffolds 9.3 beams Performance Criteria 6 10 complete own work within the estimated, allocated time to meet the needs of other occupations and/or client

Methods of work
      8      application of knowledge for safe work practices,

              8.3      confirm that the stability of the foundation or
                         structure on which the scaffold will be erected and

                         (tube and fitting, systems scaffold)
              8.6      set out and prepare for the scaffold structure
              8.7      erect, secure, dismantle and remove the following:
                         temporary roof scaffolds, structures using

              8.10    visually inspect fall protection equipment
