Resolve operational manufacturing problems
Overview
This standard takes place within the manufacture of explosives, substances or articles, where you will be required to demonstrate that you are able to resolve operational manufacturing problems.
You will identify the likely cause(s) of problems, evaluate the impact and deal promptly with the problems that arise, identify the most appropriate solution and report / communicate to the appropriate people.
This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives (OME) work activities. This includes those working as manufacturing managers and supervisors.
This standard replaces COGESA 4.03.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 immediately report any problem or abnormality that requires the attention of supervisor or specialist
P3 verify that the appropriate operating instructions are being used correctly
P4 verify that the equipment being used is in a safe and functional condition
P5 verify the integrity of the materials being used
P6 ensure that the equipment operating parameters have been maintained
P7 identify the possible stage(s) in the process where the problem has occurred
P8 identify the likely cause(s) of the problem
P9 evaluate the likely impact of the problem
P10 identify the most appropriate solution to the problem
P11 ensure that you have the necessary authority to implement the solution
P12 implement the chosen solution with a minimum amount of disruption
P13 evaluate the implementation of the solution and make recommendations for further improvements
P14 report on the implementation of your solution to the appropriate people
P15 complete the required reporting documentation, in accordance with organisational procedures.
