Evaluate and document complex research and findings on explosive substances and/or articles
Overview
This standard exists within a research and development role and comprises of the following elements:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of results in meeting complex research objectives for explosive substances and or articles
- Document research and findings on explosive substances and or articles
This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives (OME) work activities. This includes people working as senior research leaders working at strategic level with organizations outside their own.
This standard replaces COGESA1.13.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of results in meeting complex research objectives for explosive substances and or articles
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 confirm that the results have been validated
P3 verify that any work carried out by third parties has delivered its objectives
P4 evaluate the results using valid and consistent methods
P5 ensure that the evaluation of the results is logical and objective
P6 evaluate the conclusions of the research in comparison with the original objectives and strategy
P7 identify any area(s) in which the research fails to meet its objectives
P8 explain any identified causes for failure
P9 present the recommendations for areas of further work
P10 make arguments for changes in the research strategy, where your findings indicate a need for changes
- Document research and findings on explosive substances and or articles
P11 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P12 ensure that the research documentation is complete and up to date
P13 ensure that all findings, results and views have been recorded, whether they are positive or negative
P14 make distinctions between the results and your interpretation
P15 explain in full the rationale for your conclusions and recommendations
P16 record the research and findings in the correct format for further use
P17 disseminate your research and findings to the audience in line with the dissemination plan
P18 ensure that the documentation complies with legal requirements
