URN: CMIML403
Business Sectors (Suites): Pan-sector Management and Leadership 2026
Developed by: CMI
Approved: 2026

Overview

This standard is about leading and promoting critical reflection, learning and improvement in others within your area of responsibility. You establish and maintain the conditions that enable open discussion, critical thinking and shared learning. You role-model reflective behaviours, use questioning and facilitation approaches to help colleagues analyse experience and support them to identify strengths, development needs and learning goals. You enable exploration of alternative approaches, help colleagues apply learning in practice and promote practices that support continuous learning and improvement. You identify and address barriers that limit reflection or learning, respond to concerns in line with organisational procedures and clarify colleagues’ roles in contributing to a learning culture. You reflect critically on your own practice to strengthen how reflection, learning and improvement are enabled.

This standard applies to managers and leaders at all levels across all sectors.
